ARRIVING DEP TOUR KAREOKE FANFEST2001 HOME PAGE
Having already spent the afternoon in the Eagle n Tun. It was for us (Mia, Nigel, Joolz and myself) a mad dash back to the Hotel. to set up the Function room for the RITK. Helped along by the several glasses of red wine id had at lunch time. We decorated the room and set up in record timing.
7 o'clock show time.
We greeted all arrivals, and handed them there Gig tickets, badges and the pens Dep had made for us!! coolness

RITK's sound check was in full swing. and they were sounding awesome. The DJ we had hired for the evening (was crap) I had all ready spoke to him several times in the weeks proceeding the fest, explaining what we were about, and that we only wanted Reggae and UB40. He had none. Mad dash up to the 4th floor for all my CD's soon sorted him out.
At about 9 Ritk came on for there first set, the place erupted and we made sure they knew the meaning of a Jams Posse welcome.
They played for 2 1/2 hours. Everyone was having a ball. Big up to RITK you done us proud, and gained all our respect as the only UB40 tribute Band. BT if you are reading this, you have to give these guys official Tribute band status, they have worked so hard for it. IM sure if you have watched the video by now, you will have seen how good they are.
RITK played there hearts out for us. cant imagine how nervous they must of been, what with us lot. Wingy filming the whole thing to take back to DEP. and Norman Lamont, given it large to Johnny to BAD.

Once the Band finished the DJ played on long into the night, knowing we had to be up at 7am (call that a perk of being on the committee!!!) we staggered into bed at 3am. ouch sore heads all round in the morning.
